Presentation Details
Language assessment literacy (LAL) has become an essential competence for educators, policymakers, and test developers in an increasingly interconnected educational landscape. This presentation explores the evolving concept of LAL and its implications for EFL teachers in tertiary education, with a particular focus on aligning research-based insights, policy requirements, and classroom practices. Drawing on recent empirical studies, the talk will examine teachers’ needs and challenges when designing, implementing, and interpreting language assessments, as well as the professional development opportunities available to enhance their assessment competence.
In addition, the session will highlight practical strategies and digital tools for integrating assessment effectively into teaching and learning, making it relevant for practitioners working in diverse contexts. Participants will be invited to reflect on their own assessment practices and engage in a discussion on how to foster a stronger link between theory and practice in language testing and assessment.
